Pewter Leaf Japanese Stewartia. WOW! What a selection. When I first saw this plant, it was in fall color. As one can see from the pictures below, it is amazing. It is a prolific bloomer, and It has the same white Camellia-like flowers as the species. The summer foliage on this selection does have a light silver sheen to it, but it is in its full glory with its fall color. Its smooth bark has the same incredible display of the species. It is also amazingly vigorous. Here in the Deep South, we grow Stewartias in filtered sun. Probably morning sun and afternoon shade wouldn't hurt. It prefers uniform moisture.
