Thunberg or Baby's Breath Spirea This plant reminds me of Gypsophylla (Baby's Breath), which has airy branches that can be lined with diminutive white flowers from mid January to April, and it only gets to 4-6' . Here again, the cold will not damage its flowers. Its fall color is nothing to write home about, just slightly yellowish-orange. My first memories of my horticultural childhood was this plant. We had three species of plants as our foundation planting: this species, Nandina, and an Arborvitae on every corner. To multiply this plant, I would dig them up and split them with an ax. It worked perfectly well for all of my uses. Nothing could kill them.
