Japanese Pussy Willow. This selection was found in the wild in Japan and is reported to be a natural hybrid between two native Japanese species, Salix gracilistyla and Salix caprea. Its enormous white catkins that start emerging in zone 5 as early as late January and last as long as two months. This is another one of those great willow selections that work beautifully as cut branches taken while dormant and placed indoors to open for some "spring" interest.
