Cantab Mahonia. This cultivar is the latest flowering of the hybrid Mahonias, blooming here from just before Christmas to the end of January with large fragrant yellow flowers. The leaflets are quite large as well, but the stems have a viney, spreading type habit compared to the upright forms of most other selections. Because of this, one does not have to prune as much since it has a lower profile. Late winter produces a bountiful crop of attractive blue berries along 8" hanging racemes. Grow in filtered sun for best results or morning sun and afternoon shade would work as well.
