Todd Gresham Magnolia. As reported by the Magnolia Society, "D. Todd Gresham bred his hybrids at his home, Hill of Doves, in Santa Cruz, CA, beginning in 1955 and ended shortly before his death." The flowers of this cultivar are a violet-rose outside and white inside and will fully open up to 10" across. It grows from 15' to 30' and is fast growing and vigorous with a loose and open form. This fast growing Gresham hybrid was registered by Ken Durio, Opelousas, Louisiana. It is a cross between M. x veitchii x M. x soulangeana cv. 'Rustica Rubra.' One of its best qualities is that it flowers about two weeks after Magnolia soulangeana, which for us will usually miss most of our late frosts.
