Kogane Suruge Mountain Hydrangea. This incredible Mountain Hydrangea is grown principally as a foliage plant with its almost totally bright gold leaves, with occasional green streaks. It has the typical white lacecap flower heads of this species, but it is not a heavy bloomer. The statement comes from the brilliant foliage. One should grow it in filtered sun with uniform moisture. If your climate is cool enough to grow with more sun, then your leaves will be a brighter gold. This cultivar is amazingly vigorous considering the small amount of chlorophyll that it has in its leaves. The second picture is courtesy of Mike Chelednik.
