Fritz Huber Prostrate Plum Yew. This selection of Plum Yew is one of the best shrubs for shade. It is very similar to Prostrata, but is slightly more compact. One of its best traits is that it is deer-resistant. Additionally, no other pest problems are found either. It is one of those shrubs that can be used with great abandon throughout the garden and never be out of place, with its soft, lax, fern-like branches. We have found that it performs best in full shade to part sun. I have seen it growing in full sun, but it seems to be out of its element. It will grow to 2.5' with a spread of 4' or more with time.
