Katsura Japanese Maple. This Japanese Maple cultivar is known for its incredible yellow-orange new growth in early spring with shading to a brighter orange a few weeks later. The leaves then gradually turn lime-green in color through the warmer months. The fall colors are bright yellow to orange shades. It is reported that it is a more compact grower in America than in Europe, but will make a good size medium small tree, but we have found it to be quite vigorous. It is said to be a good bonsai subject, and since these are on their own roots, with no graft union with which to contend, this is a plus for developing into this art form. We do have larger sizes on site that are too large to ship which can be purchased at our retail.
