Rose Creek Abelia. Our most popular compact Abelia. This is an open pollinated seedling of Abelia chinensis from Dr. Michael Dirr's breeding work at the U. of GA. It appears that it is going to be quite compact with the typical white flowers for Abelia throughout the summer. We still have flowers opening in November here. But to me, its best attribute is that once the flowers fall, it leaves heads of pink calyxes (outside petal-like structures which enclose the flower) which carry their ornamentation on into the fall. Excellent butterfly attractant. Full sun to part shade with good drainage.
Zones 6-9.
