Chinese Abelia. For us this is THE butterfly attractor of all time in the garden, outdoing Buddleia. This large shrub of 6-10' produces huge heads of white, fragrant flowers which are showy in themselves, but then they are followed by even more attractive heads of pink calyxes which persist into the fall on the end of its pendulous branches. For us it is evergreen, but farther north it may be semi-evergreen to deciduous. It performs best in full sun to part shade and not particular as to soil, just not wet feet. Native China.
