Theta Asiatic Jasmine. Sean Hogan of Cistus Designs in Portland, OR, discovered this most unique cultivar and named it for his mother. Its leaves are less than 1/4" wide and 2 1/2" long and it makes a most unusual textural statement with its extremely fine foliage. The first impression that one has when observing this variety is, "What is it?" The new growth is a deep purplish-red. It works great as a groundcover in sun or shade and also as a container plant. It is a great subject for an outdoor hanging basket year around in the Deep South. It is planted at Riverbanks Botanical Garden and Zoo in Columbia, SC, as a groundcover on bank in the botanical garden and it is stunning. Just a fine carpet of only 2-3" high.
