Golden Brocade Asiatic Jasmine. When I first saw this cultivar in a garden center in Japan in the early 2,000's, it was without a doubt the most stunning selection of Asiatic Jasmine that I had ever seen. The center of each leaf, 80-90% of it, is a bright golden yellow with a narrow green border. And as if this is not enough, the new growth is a brilliant copper-red. This variety has made its debut as a striking hanging basket subject which can be left out of doors for most of the winter in the Deep South. It has survived the low teens here in the ground a few winters ago with no burning whatsoever. You will not believe the beauty of this selection. The name 'Ougon Nishiki' translates to "golden brocade" in English.
