Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Asiatic Bonsai Jasmine. This diminutive Asiatic Jasmine is used extensively in Japan as a bonsai subject. Yes, that's right, a bonsai. It is kept pruned into a low mounding small plant which eventually develops a larger trunk. The resulting bonsai resembles an old live oak with its spreading crown. When first seeing this plant in Japan, I could scarcely believe that it was a Trachelospermum. Easily grown as an evergreen groundcover in sun or shade or as a pot plant. Its first flush of new growth is a showy orange/red. Very fast growing. To train it into a bonsai, it takes constant attention.
