JC Raulston Select Polyspora. This plant was shared with me as a seedling by Mark Weathington, Director of the J. C. Raulston Arboretum, NCSU, Raleigh, NC. At the time, its cold hardiness was unknown. The first several years, I would over-winter it inside of a cold frame, but it eventually got too large to move in and out, so we left it outside where it immediately grew to the ground. It experienced the polar vortex that we had during the Christmas season of 2022, with almost no damage, just a few burnt leaves. during the spring of 2024 we planted it outside and during the fall of 2024 it has a massive flower bud set as one can see from the pics. It starts flowering in September and continues to November. It appears to me that it is going to get somewhat larger than Polyspora axillaris 'Shibamichi Select'.
