Edward Goucher Abelia. This hybrid between Abelia shumanii and Abelia grandiflora has beautiful lavender-pink flowers which are probably the showiest of any Abelia will flower for us from April until frost. It will mature out at 4 to 5 ft. The cultivar 'Dwarf Purple' appears to me to be a rename of the same plant, so beware lest you think you are getting something different as I once did. Best grown in full sun to part shade, and it is not particular as to soil as long as it is well drained. We have not had any disease or deer problems with this plant. Garden origin. Zones 6-9.
