Sweet Kate Spiderwort. I was totally transfixed whine I first saw this cultivar in a garden center in England for the first time in 1995. Of courser I bought a couple of pots. John Elsley says that this is the finest perennial to come along in the last 10 years. It has brilliant, golden-chartreuse leaves in spring with spectacular purple-blue flowers. Talk about a show!!! Like all Spiderworts, it does best in spring and fall and tends to go to sleep in our Deep South summers, but wakes up again in the fall. Plant in filtered sun. It tends to burn in full sun for us in zone 8, but further north one will get more spectacular foliage color in full sun. This is really an awesome carefree perennial.
