White Surprise Stokes Aster. Now we have another great cultivar to add to our palette of colors of one of our best herbaceous perennials on the market. And not only that, but it is also one of our greatest native perennials, which although rare in the wild, it has produced many new cultivars. Up until 'Mary Gregory' with cream-yellow flower and found here in South Carolina, we only had shades of blues and purples, but now we have a clear white selection. I have reports that it will get to 12-18" in height. This is exciting to be able to offer such a great new selection. This species flowers best when grown in full sun with adequate moisture. Since it is a southeastern native, this species is accustomed to great fluctuations in growing conditions from dry to wet and from cool to hot. We have found no pest problems. This species is excellent for cut flowers as well as a container subject.
