Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Fireworks Goldenrod. This is a selection of one of our native Goldenrods which makes a compact mound of 30-36" and produces sprays of "fireworks-like" flower spikes in late summer and fall. The Goldenrods are not responsible for fall allergies for which they are so often blamed. These can be attributed to Ragweed which has inconspicuous flowers with wind blown pollen, but they flower contiguously with Goldenrod, so the latter gets the blame because its flowers are far more noticeable. Goldenrod is insect pollinated. Its pollen doesn't "fly." Being a native, this is one of our more durable perennials. Plant in full sun to part shade with good drainage. Deer also tend to avoid the Goldenrods.
