Dwarf Bamboo. This dwarf groundcover Bamboo makes a thick mat of up to 12". It is a vigorous spreader, so one should be careful where it is planted. But if one needs to cover a larger area or needs a good plant for erosion control, then this would be a good choice. It can be grown in sun or shade, but it has its best foliage color in shade. Since it spreads by underground rhizomes, one should provide a barrier at least 8-12" deep to keep it contained.
