Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Bad-Hair-Day Mondo Grass. Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery adopted this common name for this unusual species of Mondograss, which is most appropriate. It grows much like Ophiopogon japonicus, but its leaves seem to grow in every direction possible to create a somewhat tangled mass. It grows to about 6" in height and spreads by underground rhizomes. It does well in shade to part sun and an average soil which isn't allowed to get bone dry. It's small white flowers produce electric blue berries in the fall and winter.
