Fire Works Goldenrod. This is a selection of one of our native Goldenrods which makes a compact mound of 30-36" and produces sprays of "fireworks-like" flower spikes in late summer and fall. The Goldenrods are not responsible for fall allergies for which they are so often blamed. These can be attributed to Ragweed which has inconspicuous flowers with wind blown pollen, but they flower contiguously with Goldenrod, so the latter gets the blame because its flowers are far more noticeable. Goldenrod is insect pollinated. Its pollen doesn't "fly." Being a native, this is one of our more durable perennials. Plant in full sun to part shade with good drainage. Deer also tend to avoid the Goldenrods.
