Giant Solomon's Seal. This native, majestic, shade perennial will reach 3-4' with arching canes and bell-like white flowers at each node. A great combination with ferns and hostas to give a contrasting texture in form between both. It prefers good garden soil with uniform moisture. The reference in parenthesis merely means that this name is a "synonym" or Polygonatum biflorum. This means that this species was previously recognized as Polygonatum commutatum, but subsequent to that the name was changed to Polygonatum biflorum. Taxonomists need to justify their existence by periodically giving a plant a new species, and many times even a new genus.
