Shrub Lysimachia DJHC 704. This Dan Hinkley introduction is a clumper with handsome mounds of bronzed green evergreen foliage to 10 inches in height, and dense clusters of golden yellow flowers held atop each stem. Dan says that it is for full sun in northwest Washington state, in any well drained uniformally moist soil. Dan's original collection of this rare species was in 1996, Sichaun Province, China. Here in the heat of the Southeast, it does better for us when grown in part shade. From a few feet away, it resembles a small yellow flowering Daphne. The other form of this species that we grow, has much larger leaves and gets two to three times the size of this selection, and it was introduced by Jens Nielsen a noted plant collector from the UK.
