Sparkling Burgundy Pineapple Lily. We have Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery in Raleigh, NC, to thank for this stunning eye-catching perennial. It produces 26" long sword-like leaves of deep wine red emerging in April followed by a 32" pineapple, lily-like flower stalk covered in small pinkish flowers for the top 12" in late June and July. Not susceptible to rot like many Eucomis I have planted. Quite cold hardy too, being hardy to zone 6b. Through the years this has become one of my favorite perennials. Plant it with soft pinks and the results will be traffic-stopping!
