Crinum 'Cecil Houdyshel' is a tetraploid C. × powellii (C. bulbispermum × C. moorei) hybrid made by Cecil Houdyshel. This cultivar is said to be the most floriferous Crinum of all. It starts flowering here in zone 8 in mid May and will continue until fall. The flower buds are a deep pink, opening to a shell pink with a light fragrance. The stems are erect and hold well from 2-5' tall. It also is a dependable multiplier. As with all Crinums, they will thrive on neglect and will give you the best flower show in full sun. Give good drainage with a moderate fertility and it will make a superb addition to your perennial border, or it also does well if grown in with "woodies" as long as they don't crowd it out.
