Kate Hardy Chinese Ground Orchid. This selection of hardy orchid has unusually tall spikes of lavender-purple flowers on 40 inch spikes. The leaves are the typical pleated leaves of the genus and it prefers to be grown in filtered sun in the Deep South with a high organic soil with uniform moisture. It is a cross between Bletilla striata 'Big Bob' and Bletilla formosana and is a hybrid developed by Bill Mathis.
