Star Cloud Castiron Plant. The cultivar name 'Seiun' means "Star Cloud" in Japanese. This is one of the smallest cultivars or this genus with leaves barely 1' high and only 2" wide with the leaves emerging directly from the ground with no petiole.. It is heavily speckled with small chartreuse dots on the front and back of each leaf. Tony Avent says that the leaves will burn back at 10°F, but will readily recover in the spring. But if you are in an area that is normally colder than this, it makes a superb houseplant as most all Aspidistras do. Plant in shade with adequate drainage.
