Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

To Ryu Mon Castiron Plant. This is one of the rarer cultivars of Aspidistra that we have and it is also one of the more sophisticated. The top one third of each leaf has a fine white margin on each side. The leaf is about 4" across and reaches to about 24" in height. This form is very stable in that I have never seen a leaf revert to all green. In deep shade the white margins really light up. Many of these old rare cultivars have been lost in cultivation in Japan. As with all Aspidistra, this cultivar does best in dense shade with good drainage. It works superbly well as a pot plant as well, since Aspidistras thrive on neglect.
