Frosty Linden Viburnum. I found this variegated cultivar on the Linden Viburnum on one of my trips to Japan in a small consignment nursery where homeowners and growers would leave their wares to be sold by the proprietor. At these small nurseries one can often find a real jewel that some homeowner had propagated from one of their finds, and then would bring one plant to sell. When that one has sold, then they would bring another. Sometimes one will find a really new discovery in these places. They are really a fun place to shop! This selection has a gold to white marbling variegation which is quite variable from leaf to leaf but still very stable. This species will also produce red berries from its lacecap flowers if there is another related viburnum to pollinate it, such as 'Asian Beauty', but it doesn't necessarily have to be the same species. In our area of zone 8, it is happiest when grown in some shade. At least afternoon shade or filtered sun. Further north one could grow it in full sun. The flower's inflorescence is of a lacecap type with branch arrangement in a layered effect.
