Chinese Trailing Veronicastrum. I first saw this perennial at the Atlanta Botanical Garden in their woodland garden and was immediately struck by its form and beauty. It is so unlike other species in this genus because of its spreading habit. Its leaves are 4-5" long, a dark glossy green on burgundy stems which grow outward from the center, giving it a mounding, spreading growth habit. Each leaf bud generates a 2" spike of purple-burgundy flowers from about early summer to fall. This is going to make a wonderful shade perennial to mix with ferns and Hostas. When grown here in the shade in zone 8, it remains evergreen during much of the winter. Native to China. The last picture is the size that we are shipping.
