Reverend Ida Sasanqua. This plant is published as a Camellia sasanqua, but my suspicions are that it is a hybrid such as "x vernalis" or "x hiemalis". It is is a Tom Dodd, Jr. seedling of 'Shishigashira', which is a compact heavy flowering deep pink selection. I'm sure that the pollen parent is unknown . Its growth habit is similar to its maternal parent, spreading and compact, but its flower color is more of a red to intense pink of semi-double form and excellent dark green foliage. One might even call this a "Red Shishigashira", because of its similarity to its maternal parent.
