Red Buckeye.
Another Southeastern native flowering for us here in April producing spikes of red flowers up to 8 in. long. It will make a large shrub to small tree from 3 ft. to 14 ft. for full sun to part shade. I have even seen some in rather dense shade but still flowering quite heavily. Always attracts attention with its spectacular foliar display. Another phenomenon with the species is its variability in flower and size in nature. Fall color with this species is not significant like A. parviflora.
Zones 5-9.
