Grey Ghost Florida Anise. This selection of our southern native shrub, Florida anise, Illicium floridanum, was made by Tommy Dodd of Semmes, AL. It has pewter grey foliage with a fine cream-white margin on each leaf. Surprisingly, the flowers are a pale pink. This plant is much more vigorous than one of Tommy's previous variegated forms, 'Shady Lady.' It is really quite vigorous, considering the amount of variegation. It grows best in filtered sun or part shade. It will make a large shrub of up to 6-8'. The photo is compliments of Mike Chelednik.
