Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Vanilla Ice Butterfly Ginger. This incredibly variegated Butterfly Ginger is a sport off of Hedychium 'Dr. Moy' found by Mark and Louisa Messenbrink of North Carolina. It is far more heavily variegated than its parent and is topped with fragrant peachy-pink flowers in late summer and early fall. Tony Avent reports that it rarely exceeds 3' in Raleigh, NC, but for us it usually reaches 4-6'. This plant is spectacular from the moment it emerges from the ground in the spring until the cold kills it back in late fall. Truly one of the more awesome Butterfly Gingers that I have ever seen because not only does it put on a great floral display in the fall, but its foliar exhibition is unexcelled by any other ginger that we grow.
