Camellia sasanqua 'Cotton Candy'

Cotton Candy Sasanqua. Practically identical in color to 'Jean May', this cultivar is somewhat more upright in growth habit and will be one of the earliest C. sasanqua to show color in the fall. The soft pink color of this cultivar is mesmerizing with fully double flowers. As with all Camellias, plant shallow, and even though one will often read "acid loving", I still add plenty of lime with my backfill, as well as every couple of years also top dress with it, and my plants thrive. I have a dear cousin who told us that she has some Camellias that haven't flowered in over 40 years. So my brother limed her whole yard, especially the Camellias. The next year she called me so excited because all of her Camellias were flowering.
