Due to recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Burgundy Wine Heavenly Bamboo. This recent introduction has narrower leaves than the species and the new growth is a distinct "Burgundy Wine." It makes an excellent container plant where it can be the "thriller" in the thriller, filler, spiller narrative. It is especially grown for its white fruit which contrast beautifully against it burgundy foliage. But the biggest surprise is that is has white fruit which contrast beautifully against its dark foliage. But remember, Nandinas are most self-infertile so that they need another clone, if only a seedling plant, nearby so that bees can pollinate it to facilitate fruit set.
