Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Variegated Liriope. This is probably the most popular groundcover for the Deep South. It would be fascinating to know the origin of this cultivar. My guess is that it originally came from Japan where this species is native. The cream-white variegation is most outstanding, particularly in shade, especially when the purple flower spikes start emerging in early summer. The effect can be far better when planted en masse rather than used as little ribbons bordering every bed in the garden. That does tend to become rather tiring. Grow in sun or shade. It does equally well in each environment. One can get a number of divisions from each container.
