Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Rocky Creek Japanese Holly. Its unusual contorted stems and branches makes this Japanese Holly a subject to feature. It grows well in sun or shade and will eventually get 6-8' high by 3-4' wide. Even though the Japanese love contorted forms,  they did not have a contorted form of their own native Holly, so I introduced them to it by taking gift plants several years ago. It is a mutation which was found on 'Bennett's Compact' in this country. A real conversation piece and ideal to grow as a bonsai as shown by these photos in plantsman Ozzie Johnson's garden in Marietta, GA.
