Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Autumn Minaret Daylily. Without a doubt, this has to be the tallest daylily that I have ever seen. I am 5'10" and the flowers can be over my head. It is a late season bloomer and I have seen flowers as late as mid October on its 6' scapes, hence the name 'Autumn Minaret.' But the amazing thing about it is that stems are so strong that they don't blow over even in 40 mph wind gusts. The flowers have narrow yellow petals with a soft bronze eye, but its best claim to fame is its height. On good rich soil, I have seen them as tall as 7'. And as with all daylilies, the flowers are edible. A salad garnished with daylily flowers is stunning. Just make sure you don't use any pesticides on your plants if you intend to eat them. Daylily blooms have a slightly peppery lettuce flavor. Eat them in bud or after opening.
