Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Akebono Distylium. This Distylium is not as low and spreading as D. myricoides, but grows in a more vase shape, upright/spreading form. The flowers are almost identical as Distylium myricoides, small, scarlet in the axils of the leaves in February. But what sets this plant apart is its incredible variegation of splotched creams and yellows, and it is also a very stable selection. It will tolerate full sun to fairly dense shade, but in shade the plant will not be nearly so dense. This can be a nice focal point in your garden and a must for every variegated plant collector.
