Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Corylopsis gotoana. Dirr mentions that there were 33 named species of Corylopsis. So it goes without saying that one will find many disagreements as to proper identification. But this is a new clone of this species which I just acquired and it is stunning! The first picture is of one year old 2 quart containers. The second year one will be blown away with the amount of flowers. Corylopsis need filtered sun in the Southeast, but with adequate moisture they will tolerate full sun. We haven't had deer problems with this genus even with susceptible plants nearby. Being in the Witchhazel family, it is an early spring bloomer, just behind Edgeworthias here in zone 8. The last picture is compliments of John Grimshaw.
