Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Spike Winterhazel. This is a larger version of the Winterhazels with heart-shaped serrated leaves of 4" or more across. Smaller in a sunnier site. Since this plant is native to Japan, it is found naturally in woodland settings. It flowers just a bit later than C. pauciflora with 2-3" racemes of from 6-12 flowers of clear yellow. It shows up so well because it flowers before most deciduous shrubs begin to leaf out. Truly one of the great woodland shrubs. Some of ours have reached 10', but 6' with a slightly greater spread is more common. Yellow fall color stands out nicely in its woodland setting as you can see in pictures below.
