Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Desi Arnaz or  hybrid Georgia Savory. This evergreen native, shrubby mint is a captivating compact spreading shrub to 18" with a greater spread. Its aromatic foliage makes it perfect for herb or parterre gardens. It occurred as a chance seedling in the garden of Pamela Harper, gardener and garden writer extraordinaire of Seaford, Virginia and is intermediate between the two native parent species. It produces lavender-pink snapdragon-like flowers in great profusion in late summer and fall. We need to wake up the landscape architects to this native gem. It lends itself to shearing and does well if cut back early in the season as it flowers on current season's wood in the fall with small lavender snap dragon-like flowers. .
