Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Tokyo Sunrise Cleyera. This has to be the most elegant of variegated woody shrubs with broad margins of cream white bordering a light green center. This is the true "Cleyera," not Ternstroemia gymnanthera which is often referred to as Cleyera. Both of course are in the Tea family, Theaceae, with Camellias and Euryas. They have a nice spreading habit of growth, but once established, they may put up some upright shoots. The new growth is a distinctly reddish-bronze which really stands out in the spring. Ours have yet to flower, but when it does, the flower is not that showy. It is happiest when grown in filtered sun or morning sun and afternoon shade. I have seen it do well down to single digits, but 0°F gave some damage.  This a dependable zone 7b plant.
