Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Upright Plum Yew. This selection of Plum Yew has all ascending branches which makes it a rather nice specimen for the shade garden when ones needs an upright accent. To keep its narrow profile, one may have to remove some of its old branches with time, but it would be a very long time. Its leaves or "needles" are arranged in a whorled pattern around its stems. It has the same deer resistance of the species. Very rarely one might have scale, but these are easily controlled with an oil spray. It will tolerate some sun, but it seems to be most content with part shade or morning sun and afternoon shade, with good drainage.
