Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Winter Gem Asiatic Boxwood. This cultivar of our ubiquitous Japanese Boxwood holds its green color better than the species. When the first frost occurs, its parent will usually turn a sickening bronzy gold, but this selection holds its good green color well throughout the winter. But one prerequisite for this is to have your plants adequately fertilized. It will grow in full sun to part shade. It has the ability to get quite large if left unattended, but it can be easily maintained in the 4-6' range with some judicious pruning only a couple of times a year.
