Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Jekyll Cross Vine. Dr. Michael Dirr tells the story of him and his wife Bonnie bicycling on Jekyll Island, GA when he noticed this particular selection of cross vine with bright orange flowers growing in the wild. He took cuttings and now we have a new cultivar which he named of all things, 'Jekyll.' Even though found in the southern extremity of its range, it has proven to be one of the most cold-hardy selections. Since plants in this genus climb by means of tendrils with adhesive discs, it has the ability to climb almost any "textured" surface, such as brick, stone or wood.
