Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Alphonse Karr Clump Bamboo. Alphonse Karr is one of the better variegated cane (culm) bamboos. It grows in a 14-16’ high clump with culms of bright yellow and green stripes. It is a "clumping" bamboo rather than a "running" type, which makes it excellent for screen or even for containers. Its foliage may burn in the low teens, but new leaves will be produced the following spring. This is a great container plant as well with its incredibly colorful culms. It does well in sun or shade. Once established, it is very drought tolerant and we have never had problems with deer on any of our bamboos, which are technically giant grasses. They are in the grass family, Gramineae. We have larger plants at the nursery, but they are too large to ship. So they are for pickup only. Even the 4 qt. size may have to be pruned back to get them into our largest boxes of 4 ft.
