Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Little Angel Aucuba. We were visiting a nursery in Japan some years ago looking for several new plants and darkness suddenly overtook us at 4:30 p.m. In November in eastern Japan the sun sets around 4:15 p.m. I stumbled upon this small Aucuba which was about 18" high and 3' across and it was covered in large red berries. I was able to get a few cuttings and now we have it available. Having no cultivar name, one of my propagators named it 'Little Angel.' But remember, Aucubas are dioecious, having separate male and female plants, so if one doesn't have a male to pollinate the female, then there will be no berries. We sell a male cultivar 'Mr. Goldstrike' which is a great variegated form of standard size and it flowers heavily and is an excellent pollinator. Remember that all Aucubas need shade to prevent the leaves from burning.
