Due to the recent discovery of the spotted lanternfly in South Carolina, California has restricted the shipment of plants from SC as well as 15 other states in which the spotted lanternfly had already been found. It was found over 100 miles from Nurseries Caroliniana, but the whole state has been put under quarantine until a treatment protocol can be worked out to resume shipments to California. Authorities hope that this can be accomplished by the end of the month.

Stars and Stripes Castiron Plant. This is a very nice variegated form of A. elatior. The leaves can reach up to 36" tall by 4" wide. What is so unusual about it is that every leaf has some variegation of yellowish vertical streaks and a light sprinkling of "stars" throughout. Most variegations of this type are not very stable, but this one is amazingly uniform. As  with all Aspidistras, they like dense shade with adequate drainage. They are also very adaptable as a container plant as well in zone 8 or higher or as a house plant in colder climes.
